Doctors

Trying to find a doctor who is nonintervention-oriented may prove to be a challenge. As a general rule obstetricians are the most intervention-oriented. They have generally been trained to believe that birth is a dangerous medical crisis. Family practitioners and Doctors of Osteopathy can also attend births in our state. They tend to be less intervention-oriented. Any of them may practice in the "midwifery model". It is extremely important to determine where your practitioner stands on the issues of interventions and the medical and midwifery models of birthing.
